Burkina Faso, 02/05/2019, Srs. d'Africa.- On February 15, 2019. Father Antonio César Fernández lost his life at the age of 73, by the murderous bullets of terrorists in Burkina Faso. He served the Church of Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

His funeral took place from February 20 to the 23 in Togo. February 23 was the funeral mass in Togo and Burkina Faso, then his body was repatriated to Spain, his native land, where he was buried.

The Dominican Sisters of the Presentation in Africa were fortunate to benefit from a retreat Fr. César preached in the year 2012, which greatly marked us, strengthening our commitment to Christ and our choice of religious life. In 2018, he also preached a session for us on the vow of obedience.

We remember Father César as a man of simple, generous, and dedicated service of Christ and of others. We extend our condolences to his immediate family as well as to his religious family, and to our Sisters of the Province of Spain. Lord God may your eternal light shine upon him!
