Barcelona (Spain), 05/08/2025, Sr. Gemma Morató.- The election of the new Pope, Leo XIV, has marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Church. His appearance on the balcony of St. Peter’s has stirred many questions, hope, and also inspiration for all the faithful and for our Congregation.
A few days before the conclave, I was contacted by a U.S. communications company which, together with one of the country’s best-known Catholic publishers, Liguori Publications, offered me an interesting contract: if I accepted, I would have to write a book on the new Pope in just three days, starting the moment he appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s.
I thought about it a lot. It was risky: the short timeframe, the uncertainty of who would be elected, how to approach it… But with the support of the community, I accepted the challenge. And so, in barely three days, I delivered a manuscript on Pope Leo XIV. That very night when I submitted it, the book was already available for purchase on the American publisher’s website. An unexpected and accomplished challenge that makes me look at this Pope with a special closeness.
Truly, the Holy Spirit was in the Sistine Chapel.
