Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 02/15/2026, Sr. Anasthasie Zinissida Kissou.- On January 25, 2026, the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin celebrated the inaugural Mass of the Our Lady of the Rosary Community of Doulougou, at Saint Joseph Parish of Kombissiri, in the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso.
Four sisters were sent to this new mission: Angélina Conditamdé, Clémentine Koama, Elisabeth Pouan, and Anasthasie Zinissida Kissou.
The Mass was presided over by Father Albert Ouédraogo, parish priest, and concelebrated by our Dominican brothers Elisée Koffi Somé and Emile Hussein Ouédraogo. Sister Evelyne Ouédraogo, Vice-Provincial of Africa, was present along with three sisters from her council. Also present were brothers and sisters of the Dominican family and other congregations, staff and students of the University of Saint Dominic of West Africa (USDAO), many faithful, and our sisters from various communities in Burkina Faso who had come for the occasion.
In his homily, the parish priest stated: “The presence of a religious community in a locality manifests the presence of God.” At the end of the Mass, the priest placed the Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the tabernacle of the community chapel. This ceremony was followed by the blessing of the house. “The Lord comes to dwell among us to be our light” (cf. Jn 1:9).
Afterwards, the sisters of the community processed with the image of Our Lady of the Rosary, under whose title the community is named, to place it at the foot of the altar. The community desires to follow the example of Mary, under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary, in obedience and fidelity to the desire of our two founders: Saint Dominic and Blessed Marie Poussepin.
Called initially by Christ, the mission of the sisters is indeed the mission of Christ and of his Church within the Congregation, whatever form it may take. Thus, at the request of the brothers of the Order of Preachers, the sisters collaborate with the Dominican family at the University of Saint Dominic (USDAO) in Doulougou and also respond to the needs of Saint Joseph Parish, where the community is located. Added to this are activities in agriculture and alternative medicine.
May Our Lady of the Rosary, our father Saint Dominic, and our mother, Blessed Marie Poussepin, intercede so that God’s will may be fulfilled in this mission, for his glory and the salvation of souls
