Formative Experience in Québec (Canada)

Santiago (Chile), 02/10/2026, Sister Licarayén Fernanda Torres Muñoz.- On January 5, I set out for Québec, Canada, to undertake a training and research internship at the Chair of Spiritual Care in Health Contexts at Université Laval, until April 30 of the present year.

A time for research and deepening spiritual accompaniment in health contexts

This academic and pastoral experience is made possible thanks to a full scholarship granted to me by the Canada, intended for future leaders from Latin America. This scholarship will allow me to complete my undergraduate studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, strengthening my integral formation through dialogue with new cultural, ecclesial, and social contexts.

The internship in Québec represents a unique opportunity for me to deepen spiritual accompaniment, especially in health settings, where listening, hope, and the care of human dignity become essential. It is a time of rigorous learning, committed and incarnated research, and intercultural encounter, enriching my vocation and my service.

I sincerely thank the Government of Canada, Université Laval, and my home university in Chile for the trust placed in me and for opening paths of academic and pastoral collaboration. I carry a grateful heart and the conviction that this experience will bear fruit for the mission of the Congregation in accompanying individuals and peoples who seek meaning, consolation, and hope.

In a special way, I express my deep gratitude to Sister Mariamma Paul and her council, as well as to Sister Gladys Gabriela Vergara Ríos and the Vice-Province council, for their close accompaniment, constant support, and the trust shown throughout this entire formative process.
